A group of scientists from University College London has developed a new technique that allows the pilot to monitor the activities’ of the brain of children in developing countries by birth, so as to reveal signs of cognitive dysfunction caused by failure to nutrition. The research and ‘was published in the journal’ Scientific Reports’. From what we read in the study, the cognitive functions of children can be viewed and tracked in a more ‘quickly, easily and accurately with this method, called functional near infra-red spectroscopy (fNIRS). The technique provides better results than behavioral assessments that are taken for decades in Western countries. The first tests were performed on children in the Gambia with age ‘between 4 and 8 months. The system monitored the activities’ of the brain of children showing changes in blood flow in the brains subjected to visual stimuli through the projection of videos of adults who carried out specific movements.
