Mediterranean diet According to a new study published in the ‘Annals of Internal Medicine’, women who followed a Mediterranean diet around middle age ‘have a greater probability ‘of aging without major physical and mental health problems. The study by scientists at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School has involved 10,670 women who were part of the Nurses Health Study. The scientists collected data of women, when they were 50-60 years old, and have followed them for 15 years. The participants provided information about their health through two questionnaires regarding diet. The results showed that women who had a high adherence to the style of the Mediterranean diet had a chance ’46 percent higher than healthy aging, ie not having, in over 70 years, major chronic diseases and cognitive deterioration in health and mental health.
