Enpa, EU Commissioner Borg opens to protect animal health - ANSA.it

ROME – The National Animal Protection (Enpa) welcomes “the openings of the European Commissioner for Health, Tonio Borg, in the field of animal welfare.” On this front, the Enpa explains, “Europe should give priority to eliminate the real ‘babel laws’ of the United States, which for animals is the cause of terrible and absurd disparity of treatment from one country to another” .

“If we take for example the stray dogs – explains the scientific director of the ENP, Ilaria Ferri – it is inconceivable that the EU countries ‘you granted’, in which it is in no way allowed the suppression of stray, living with others, see Romania, where dogs are slaughtered without family, and in some cases even murdered brutally and methodically without taking account of the provisions of the Treaty of Lisbon. ” For Ferri “where there is a proper and respectful treatment of animals there is also a good health and of course the prevention of zoonotic diseases.”

The Animal Protection asks “that the Community institutions from positive experiences even though there have been, I think for example to stop testing on cosmetics, to define a framework shared – concludes the scientific director of the ENP – A regulatory framework focused on animal rights, their protection and well-being. “
