Berries, lack of transparency in the Ministry of Health Codes complaint ... - Help Consumers

Berries, Codes denounces the lack of transparency and the Ministry of Health uses the Tar

The Codes has decided to appeal to the TAR in front of the refusal of the Ministry of Health to access the papers concerning the case of the berries and spread of hepatitis A. The association had formally requested the Ministry of Health access to certain information relating to the matter, very important for the health of the citizens, but the response was totally negative. In front of the denial of the request for access to documents, today the codes can not do anything but announce an appeal to the TAR.

The Ministry of Health has motivated the refusal with an alleged incompleteness of the request, because “these claims can not be general but must allow for the identification of the document you want to access.” But their requests were timely applications of codes to the Ministry. The association asked will hear about the reports received by the local health authorities for the area containing the information about the causative agent, the mode of transmission, the source of the food contaminated; communications on the rise progressively, compared to the average of cases of hepatitis A, at the beginning of 2013, the measures taken by the Ministry to ensure safety, such as control programs; directives addressed to supervisors who control the raw materials used for the production and marketing of fruits.

“In short, all of it except for general inquiries – said the association – So why the Health Ministry denied the information? not assume, in this way, a little transparent behavior? And above all, why hide behind some sort of procedural defect for not disclosing information that may be useful to better understand the extent of the phenomenon? These are the questions that you put the codes and motivating the decision of the Association to appeal to the TAR to obtain the required information. ” In the meantime, the recommendation is: it is absolutely necessary to boil at 100 degrees prior to the consummation of berries.
