The work will take 18 months and will be completed by May 2016.
“We have respected the deadlines that we set ourselves the signing of the sponsorship agreement – said Maggioni – and now that the investigation is finished, we can start with all the activities preparatory to the actual restoration. In this case, however, we want to arrange the maximum intervention with traders who have shops on the bridge. ” Maggioni has announced that it will shortly start a negotiation talks to agree on timing and mode of intervention with traders. “The bridge will never be closed – he added – and also the shops will be able to continue their normal activities.” And to provide all possible information on the restoration of the building known throughout the world, the City will create a website that will give account of the various stages of the work. “We want to be transparent to the maximum – said the commissioner – and give the opportunity to the Venetians and the whole world to see how work is continuing, a kind of virtual construction site.” The investigations have cost 320 thousand euro.
